Godot. v3 is great for Newgrounds games cause the HTML exporter is compatible with both desktop and mobile browsers.
v4 has a lot of amazing features though, like the ability to import open blender files is a game changer.
I used to prefer Unity since it was the engine I started out on and used for something like 4 years, but my college recently introduced me to Unreal engine and I'm starting to prefer it, the programming interface is just so much faster and more efficient, though I do hate how "AAA-focused" it is in terms of graphical settings and whatnot. Now with Unity's recent installation fee scandal, I might need to make the switch entirely.
Definitely Godot, theres a couple of changes I dont like in 4, like removing the classic 3d fog or whatever happened that now the "compatibility mode" (used for html) messes up your animation textures and you gotta set them by code.
Aside from that its great. So straightforward and lightweight
GameMaker babyyyyyyy. I only still use it 'cuz they honored legacy one-time purchase licenses though.
IF SOMEONE SAYS UNITY I WILL do a red death quote to you btw Unreal Engine
RE engine. Seriously, that engine just fascinates me

I like to work with the Source Engine. While, yes, it's a dated engine, It was really easy to learn for me.
I commonly make maps and other assets for the Source Engine.
Especially in Hammer editor (The official map creation tool), the Source engine can be like a minefield.
One wrong move, and your map could completely break. So if you decide to work with maps, i recommend trying Hammer++, it's a community made fork, that allows things like proper ray-trace previews, and physics simulation. It also fixes some bugs that Valve could never sort out themselves.
Unreal Engine through and through.
Close second would have to be the M.U.G.E.N engine for me
if I had to say which game engine is my personal favorite, I’d have to say the Source engine
It's Unreal engine, however, i would also say unity but you know what is going on with that engine.
Check out my stuff.
I'm gonna go with Flash (with actionscript 2). Wich I'm just gonna go and call a propper game engine. And favoriting because how suprisingly easy it is. For a beginner, to mash some simple graphics together. And then make a little something interactive with it, to the point of making it as big, so you can call it a real video-game.
And Imma pick a second engine. The Diesel engine. Annoyingly smart-assedly named after a real-life engine. I don't actually know much about it. But the game with my favorite swinging gameplay-mechanics, is made on that engin; the 2009 version of Bionic Commando.
Would seem so cool, to be able to use that one, just to be able to mod that game. For making new levels and shit to swing around in.
But that would probably take me many, many years, justto become proficcient enough to make the most basic of edits to that game. If there is even means to accuire the software, and the documentation to start learning how to do that...
Even though it can be tricky I'd say in terms of putting a game together RPG Maker MV.
Though in terms of playing around and trying to see if I just try to do anything. Unreal engine. (Though I definitely couldn't use that one too often without my computer sounding like it's going to take off.)

It's literally the noteblock that comes preinstalled in your computer
