Which way of watching a series do you prefer?
In the years of streaming it's become pretty common for a network to drop a whole bunch of episodes for a series at once so the viewer is able to watch it all in one sitting. This can be convient as some people no longer have the schedule to watch a specific show at a specific time anymore
I myself am at a point in life where I just can't wait week after week for an episode that may suck, has little to no plot progression or is just a goddamn clipshow.
However it also has had MASSIVE negative impact
For one, animated shows will often be incredibly short now. A season on things like Netflix, Dicksney+ or Max will typically consist of 10 ~ 12 episodes or less. There will then be a maaaassive gap until season 2 which doesn't really feel like a second season at all, and instead just feels like the second part to the first season (if you can understand what I mean)
It has also killed weekly excitement and a large part of discussion within fandoms. A lot of series get cancelled (sometimes after just one season) even when they were critically acclaimed and beloved
Many anime/cartoons are treated as a cog in the machine rather than their own thing, completely replacable by whatever pops off next
Which way do you prefer? Binging format or weekly/monthly release?
