It looks good. Are any of you fans of Kung Fu Panda? Personally I think it's a cool series but I'm not fanboying over it or anything.

Thoughts?

I only watched the first movie and I really liked it. I only saw it once, when it premiered and I was a kid back then so I have no clue if that movie stood the test of time for me.

looks cool. but most of the time the 4th entry in a franchise is always the worst, but i hope this is good.

Well idk. The third one was okay. This looks similar to the third with the villain stealing chi. Hopefully they took what worked in the previous iterations and add to it...from the looks of it they did the first part. But whether or not they found a balance only tie will tell.

Didn't like 3 very much; felt like it didn't have much compelling to do with Po at that point and thus got bogged down in kids' movie nonsense in a way 1 and 2 managed to avoid. They've all been written by the same guys so far so if it's them again this time I hope the 8-year gap will have allowed them some time to come at it better. Po being put in Shifu's position is a good concept in theory, though they do run the risk of leaning too hard on it, and the director describing it as a 'love letter to the first film' has gotten me rather wary of exactly that happening.

Trying to judge the action from trailer snippets is a somewhat foolish clownshoes exercise but, for fun: very easy to avoid doing the thing I liked least about 3's action in general, which was how the jade statues moved. Obviously moving like that was on purpose but took a certain sense of fluidity out of the fights involving them. On the other hand, if Po's building an army, that probably leads into the finale being the whole wacky cast coming back for a go at the bad guys. This kinda happened in 2, though there the whole wacky cast in question was kung fu masters so the choreography was still cool. In 3 the whole wacky cast was the panda village which I didn't find very interesting. Obviously both of them followed this up with Po finally applying that movie's particular branch of training but I preferred 1 doing that for the whole fight. Hopefully that's one of the things they do lift from the first one but it could go either way.

I have more Kung Fu Panda thoughts than I expected lol

That's the point of the trailer though? To showcase the best parts of the movie to get people interested...I don't know what you mean. Elaborate for me?

This is probably what is going to happen since the previous film established that Po is training a new generation of kung fu warriors or whatever.

This I can agree with. I could only remember to ribbon twirling girl and Po's biological dad (obviously).

I just released this for conversations sake. As I said I'm no fanboy of Kung Fu Panda. It's a neat series but heavily relies on charm I'm not even a movie person but as I said I did it for conversation's sake. Nothing too serious.

Looks pretty ok. probably won't see it in theaters.

KF2 really was the peak of the series. Now it feels like Po has gone from being a part of a team to Goku. which is fine and all and I think it would be a valid way of continuing the series. But I think I'll wait this one out for now.

No that's exactly what I mean; it's made of clips that are appealing in isolation but until I see the film I'm not gonna really be able to judge. Any speculation on my end rn is essentially vibe-based.

Honestly I have no idea if I even want to see it, KFP3 was a great ending to Po's story

Also...Awkwafina as a lead role...ugh

So far I don't have high hopes for the story or characters

Except with Shrek

Except with Shrek

Tbf Shrek 3 wasn't that great. So Shrek 4 is basically the 3rd movie in the series (talking figuratively).

Personally Shrek= 3.5 (due to the interesting concept), Can kind of remember it? I can remember Lord Farquad and the "wipe your face" joke).

Shrek 2= 5. (Many funny references to pop culture, solid story, charming characters, great replay value).

Shrek 3= 2.5. (Could barley remember the movie until someone reminded me there was one). When I rewatched it, jokes didn't hit, I don't remember Charming being that much of a threat, I can't remember the characters, and can only remember the concept of the movie if I'll be completely honest).

Shrek 4= 4.5. (Good theme, great execution, awesome callbacks that helped build the story, well written annoying villain that's memorable, rewatchable but not as much as Shrek 2). Then again I got a soft spot for Shrek 2 so idk.

(I'll be completely honest I randomly generated those numbers in my head.)

But yeah, you can technically say except Shrek.
