I like it when: The boss feels on a level playing field with the player (ie, can use healing, has reflexes on par with the player, doesn't stand around doing absolutely nothing).
I don't like it when: The boss has like a 2-3 second window for you to attack it, then becomes completely invincible for like 30 fucking minutes.
Any boss rush, in any game, ever.
In ALL of gaming? I don't think I have an answer for that. But off the top of my head, I don't think there's anything that can beat this dumb fetus.
Merry (late) Christmas to all! God I love this time of year.
To completion? 100%? It's gotta be Gunbuster, though that's all OVAs. As for a more ''traditional'' format, the original Dragon Ball's the oldest I've watched. I've got plenty of old stuff on my backlog though. I'll get to it one day...
I'd say it's one of the better 3D Sonic games out there, a personal favorite of mine. I can see why it rubs some people the wrong way, and I was rather certain initially that I'd hate it with a passion, but it really grew on me. There's much to love, though it is quite janky and rough around the edges. A bit of a testament to just how much of a budget franchise Sonic has been for a while, which is very sad to see. Regardless, I did find it tons of fun.
The most remarkable thing I can say is that Sonic controls like a fucking dream (in the Open zones at least...). I legitimately never expected a Sonic game to feel as fun and smooth as the Adventure saga did, but this was one of the most pleasant surprises. That aside, Boss fights tick all my shonenbrain boxes, I love Sage as a character, and it's got some of my favorite OST in the franchise.
The weird progression spot in Terraria that is post-Golem, but pre-pillars. You get a shit ton of stuff thrown your way once you defeat the Golem: a bunch of new weapons, accessories, and a new space event where you get even more of those. But it all becomes completely irrelevant about 30 mins later, as right after Golem you can defeat the Lunatic Cultist, which is a rather simple boss, the penultimate one in the entire game, and killing it grants you access to much better weapons.
It really feels like there should be something in-between, perhaps another structure like the Golem temple, which was a nice interlude between Plantera and the Golem.
Also, that one part in Neptunia Re;birth 1 where you have to face two bosses in a row with no HP/MP restore or save point in-between. But the game never, ever warns you of such an event, and if you didn't grind for a few hours before facing it you WILL get crushed. So all in all, it comes off as an extremely cheap difficulty spike the first time you're playing.

But unlike the 5 of them, they're still just in copyright deal. Idk why, but i've always seen Alex as the DK of SEGA. And, idk, giving him a DKC treatment would be hella cool. Plus, i might even try the new Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio! I've always wanted to play a JSR game.

Man, Ristar was so good. Little guy NEEDS a comeback badly.
As for the rest, I can't help but feel really excited. Though I really don't like how they did away with Jet Set's iconic stylized art style... but I'm really happy we're getting a new game at all. Can't wait!

id thought id ask you lot what are your favourite video games of the year?
be sure to sound it all off in the replys :)
Man I'm sad that I've barely played any new vidyas this year, we got so many cool stuff! I don't, thus, have a favorite per se, but I really wanna try out Baldur's Gate 3 and Pseudoregalia. And maybe Pizza Tower? I can't help but love the art style and design philosophy, but I'm afraid that it'll be too difficult for me. I don't mind a good challenge, but my hands sure do...!
Horror's like chili to me - I can't stand it, yet I just love it. However, I legitimately lack the guts to play any kind of horror game. Last time I tried was with FNAF 1 with my cousin like 7 years ago and I just couldn't get past the 2nd night because of all the jumpscares.
I've stuck to playthroughs and movies since.
...Terraria does have some cute, err, jumpscares, however. Dunno if that counts.
Nowadays I listen to a fuckton of Drum n Bass. Intellegent/Atmospheric DnB, specifically, though I do delve into other types as well. It's become my favorite genre ever since I "truly" discovered it (aka, I didn't know it was an entire genre).
Otherwise, most other preferences of mine involve EDM and Eurobeat. I like to listen to rock and NES/Sega Genesis covers and songs/OST as well.
