Wow, this really sucks.
I loved getting the NG Medals in the shark games.
Wish I got to know him better.

I'm not submitting anything this time! My game barely has one level done.
Well, maybe I'll submit that one level... I dunno if it's worth it....

I think CS6 is the latest one to support AS2, but if I recall correctly, CS6 is quite laggy for animation, and I preferred using CS4 for AS2 stuff. If I had time to take part in this jam, I think I'd try to make a simple AS3 game though, as the basics seem to work now, and I would prefer to use my favourite version, CC2015!

What should we be using?
Hunt down an old version of Flash - CS4 is my favourite for ActionScript 2.
But I think some simple AS3 games will work in Ruffle just fine, so you can use any modern version of Flash for that.
Looks cool!
But I think it should be easier to exit viewing - Escape key and clicking outside of the image should exit, IMO. I think that would be more consistent with other platforms.
Can I buy that sticker pack somewhere if I don't win?
Looks really cool.
The updates to the medal system are cool!
I used to be a big medal collector, but have fallen behind in the last few years.
I definitely still get PMs about broken medals though, so helping users unlock them is cool.
I'm tempted to update my medal icons to 100x100, since I already have those for many of my games on Steam...
And for the rest I could be lazy and use Waifu2x to upscale.
Ooh, Redder works again. That's a good chance to play that game again.
I'm glad I became a Diamond-tier Ruffle supporter!
Throw Rocks at Shit was robbed! Should have been number one!
I love When Pigs Fly!
It's such a comfortable game to revisit every year or so. It's definitely one of my favourite Flash games.
Edit: Hey, I'm pretty sure the background color in When Pigs Fly is wrong!
If I recall, the sky should be blue! But otherwise the game plays just as I remember it.
I'm actually working on re-releasing some of my old AS2 games on Steam, so I'm still working with AS2!
I probably wouldn't make anything new for the jam though, as I'm already working on a lot of stuff, as usual. But I am interested to see if anything comes out of it.
I like my Wacom Cintiq, but I feel it's way overpriced for what it is. I'm glad you're giving other brands a try, Wacom needs some more competition!
The WiiU gets too much hate, it had really good games.
The Switch is basically a handheld WiiU (but you have to buy all the games again), and for some reason people love that.

It's your vote, obviously, so if it makes you feel better to vote third party then go nuts, but the idea that you're going to actually change anything in doing so is a bit silly.
I wouldn't go that far. Voting 3rd party shows politicians that your demographic is voting, and they will try to earn your vote in the next election. The main 2 parties will start stealing popular policies from the smaller parties. (this is what happens in the UK, and why we ended up with Brexit)
It aint much, but it's much better than not voting at all.
I think the only way to fix it is to get money out of politics.
People need to stop watching corporate news media that pushes the propaganda of its billionaire owners. People need to stop voting for politicians who take bribes from corporations and billionaires.
I think people are starting to wake up to this. Bernie ran his campaign around this issue, and the establishment had to work really hard to stop him. We need more politicians like him being elected in more roles.
Depends on what you're good at.
If you're good at art, something easy would be a game that's basically a slideshow, like a simple dating sim or point and click adventure. If you're good at programming and bad at art, you could try making an action game with "programmer art", something in the style of Geometry Wars or Thomas is Alone.
I'm reading this thread a bit late - it looks like you have more than one game on Steam now!
Looks like you know what you're doing now, you've got achievements and all the other stuff set up. Let me know if you're still curious about anything!
I'm also interested to see if anything comes close to the convenient package that Flash offers. But for now, I'm happy to keep using Flash for a while longer. It won't run in browsers anymore, but it works just fine on desktop (Steam) and mobile. That's good enough for me.
If you've got a Flash game that's almost done, there's no reason not to finish it in Flash. Flash won't run in browsers anymore, but it runs fine on desktop and mobile. You'll just have to publish the game on Itch or Steam, instead of Newgrounds. That's probably way easier than porting it over to a new engine.
Flash is gonna die in browsers, it's still a viable game engine on mobile and desktop - there's no need to stop using it unless you really want to make web games, or just want to move onto a more modern game engine.
I don't use Flex/Flash builder, but I'm still making Flash games for desktop and mobile using Adobe Flash/Animate, and will probably continue to do so for another year or two, possibly longer.
There's not much support from Adobe at this point, so I'm not expecting many new features, but pretty much everything you need to make games is already there.
I really hope someone cracks down on Apple's monopoly, whether that comes from this legal battle, or something else. Their terms for developers are awful, and we have no choice if we want access to the platform. Steam and Google Play dominate on PC and Android, but in theory you can still sell your software through other stores, or directly. On Apple? You have no choice, and as long as there's no choice, they have no reason to give you a better deal.
I liked both of the AVGN games, but I didn't like them enough to play them again, even if there is some new levels added.
I'd definitely buy a totally new AVGN game though.
Zidane seemed like a cool guy who'd make a good friend in real life.
Cloud, Squall, Tidus, Lightning etc don't seem to have much personality at all. They're really boring and cliche.
I loved Smash Bros since the first game, but I'm kinda overwhelmed by the latest one.
There's so many characters I've never heard of, or ones that feel like they don't belong in a Nintendo game - it's like I've fallen behind in video game trends. The games also seem way more competitive now - I used to be good at the games in a small local group, but now that everything's online, I feel like I'm shit at them!
Flash is pretty much dead in browsers, and the tech is definitely a bit dated, but if you really still want to use it, it's perfectly viable on desktop and mobile platforms. I'm still making Flash games as my full time job, and will likely still be doing it in 2021!
Go pirate Adobe Animate (or an older version - Flash CC15 is my favourite) and watch some tutorials.
I enjoy talking about finances, but feel like I can't do so publicly since I'm worried that some people may judge me. I'm pretty well off though.
