The popularity of nsfw content has been sufficiently explained here, but as a more direct answer to your question (why your sfw art no longer gets as much engagement), I'd say it has to do with Newgrounds being a platform where building a following is famously slow. You already did build a following of course, but since it was comprised of people here for the lewd, few of the same people will be as enthusiastic about different content, so basically, it may take a moment to get new followers who are into the new content. And I'd wager the existence of this thread might already be helping.

What if there was a GNU/Linux musical?
I don't know why, but this format with this theme seems like a good match to me.
It might start with the conception of Unix. There would be a leitmotif associated with Linus Thorvald, the Linux Kernel and the Linux foundation, which would be very binary, like a penguins steps, which would sound cute and silly when it's just a song about Linus hacking on his computer as a hobby; but that could become cold and ominous in some later songs when conflicts start to arise.
Another leitmotif, this time for Richard Stallman, the GNU project and the Free Software foundation would have a more grandiloquent air to it, like a kind of communist hymn to underline a more political conception of free software; but becoming gloomy and mournful as RMS turns into a tragic figure. These two leitmotives would only be heard simultaneously once in a song about the merge, which would mark the end of the first act and the beginning of the conflict between the two visions of open source.
Of course, this is just a thought in the air right now, not a serious project. Unless..?
That's kinda the idea, but imagine a whole movie like this telling the history of Linux and there'd be songs in chronological order telling from the perspectives of characters like Dennis Ritchie, Linus Thorvald, Richard Stallman... Think like Hamilton if you've seen it. But since we're on Newgrounds, it could be a cartoon...

Hey comrades! Another Mint user here.
Quite a minimalist design, but I don't dislike it. Site bookmarked!
It's been a while since I've tried animating anything. I'm not really proficient at it, and lately I haven't had the time or energy to try hard enough to really improve, so I guess I figured if I wasn't gonna make any good animation I might as well make none at all. But I'm glad I saw this challenge and felt like answering. I do believe now that something's better than nothing after all. I remembered that I first tried animating not because it was easy, nor because it was hard, but because it was fun!
I'll second Brackenwood, I haven't really watched many flash animated series aside from that.
If games count tho, I really loved the Armadillo Knight games ! A great trilogy, but a shame it didn't go further than that despite hinting at a greater plot in the last one.
I also enjoyed the Sonic RPG franchise as well as Final Fantasy Sonic X (I've played a lot of sonic flash games, but ironically, no official sonic game ever).

Same! Well, my tablet is now a "One by Wacom" mid-size, but I started with a small-sized bamboo. And of course, always Krita! Open Source gang, rise up!
A villain who is basically like a nekketsu protagonist pushed to the extreme. Someone with a dream that they'd do anything for, and "anything" happens to include betrayal, murder, and other horrible things, making them a terrible villain. I'm not talking about the Magneto or Killmonger type, who act -or believe they act- for a greater good. I'm thinking more villains that act for their personal ambitions. They sacrifice others for their sake, and are therefore obviously selfish and evil, and not in a grey zone, but still... You understand. And in a weird, twisted way, you respect their ambition. I'm not gonna name examples, because the best examples are often twist villains, or characters who slowly turn into villains and I wouldn't want to spoil, but there's a pretty famous one in a really famous manga, among other things.
I've got a pretty big project! I'm currently working on the design of the one who will be my lead character.
I've also made a short comic that's not really part of the narrative but that's set in the same universe:
To be honest, I'm not going to start the real thing for a while, I've got a story and a deep lore in my head, but i believe I still need to improve a lot before getting it started for real !

supporters can post up to 10 images and video embeds per post. those people you saw with more than 2 images were supporters at the time the posts were made and so had a bigger limit.
a workaround could be to fuse 2 or more of the pages into a single image, but that'd take a while to load.
I knew Newgrounds was in need of money, but I didn't think they'd be hiding important features like that behind a paywall... Gotta do what it takes to survive I guess.
if i recall correctly, art posts always allowed 1 main image and up to 10 image comments, supporter or not. though i heard there is an upcomming site update that'll make comics easier to post. becoming a supporter certainly helps with the update.
sorry about the confusion.
No problem, your comment was still very useful: I hadn't thought of using the picture embed option from the text box in the art post because there was the big "insert or load image" box and I had assumed it was the only place to upload art; I don't know how much longer it would've taken me to try that if you hadn't mentioned the image embeds in your answer. Beside, the rest of what you said, while not immediately relevant, is still good to know for later, so thanks again!
That's a three page comic I've made (only posted one page here, but you can follow the link for the two others). It's set in the world of a long comic I'm elaborating. Funnily enough, I didn't know about clockday when I first made it, but by luck I finished it yesterday and only posted it today, but it turned out to be very topical!

Hello, I've got a three-page comic I'd like to upload, preferably in a single post, but it seems like I can't add an image without deleting a previous one. This seems strange to me as I could swear I've seen several page comics before uploaded in single posts... How should I go about doing this? Must I stack them on top of each-other like a Reddit longpost or is there a was to put three images in a single post?

Hi everyone ! I made two NSFW drawings, so I thought I'd put them here. The software I use is Krita. I'm kinda new to digital art, so I'd appreciate any advice !
Also, I'm not sure yet whether I'll keep making NSFW stuff or focus on other things, but I thought I'd try that.
Second character is obviously Lucy from Cyberpunk Edgeunners, first is nobody in particular, just felt like drawing big butt. Both done with Krita.
I absolutely love Shrek.
Well, I love Shrek 1 and 2, have only a faint memories of 3, kinda liked 4 but also didn't rewatch it; but anyway this is mostly about Shrek 1.
I love this movie, and there are many reasons why it's awesome : The characters, the visual storytelling, the subversion of well known fairy tail tropes, the soundtrack and how it relates ton the characters, etc...
I also enjoyed Shrek retold and am excited about the second one.
...And yet, sometimes I wonder if the world of animation wouldn't be better if Shrek hadn't existed. Or more specifically, if it hadn't had such a big success comparatively to other Dreamworks movies like Prince of Egypt or Sinbad.
I feel like because of that, Dreamworks has just been trying to emulate the success of Shrek, and other studios have followed.
Most images and characters Shrek weren't really pretty, but it worked because of the theme of the story and because it was a subversion of the clean Disney esthetic. What the world of animation retained from this is that a movie doesn't have to look good if it's a comedy, and so it gave us an era of cheap CGI horrors.
On top of that, it contributed to Dreamworks strategy of casting live-action cinema stars and singers as voice actors, which later snowballed out of proportions and now threatens to eliminate the job of voice actor.
I know there are some good parts of Shrek's legacy too, both within Dreamworks, like Megamind and Kung-Fu panda, and outside of it, like Ice Age too (tho only the first was really good).
I know it's also not the only reason why CGI mostly replaced 2D, and the star casting stuff wouldn't really get out of proportions until Shark Story. But still, I kinda feel like it was a big part of something not entirely good, and that without it's success, we might still have a bit more movies like Sinbad...
...Any thoughts ?
