This was my first game I built using GameMaker2. It was a simple platformer for a gamejam at the time, but it was very buggy. Definitely need more work done to be playable. Right now I'm building stuff with RPGMaker MV and I'll be expanding my game stuff to building my RPG.

I wanna put it for sale on websites like Steam.
This is true.
I had a different username those many moons ago... But I recall the year was 2007, Joe Zombie had reached popularity and the Castle series was reigning supreme. I may have made this account in 2012, but that was when I discovered newgrounds.
Alright a couple of ways to tackle this.
GML is a great code to work with, but it does have it's limits as I've discovered while coding my game. Sometimes Drag and Drop can be more fluid on certain things like setting lives, points, healthbars... It really depends on preference. I personally use both hand in hand to make my game work.
I would suggest looking up some tutorials. That's how I got started, but don't rely on them for everything. After you watch enough tutorials, try writing some codes on your own to challenge your learning curve.
I have done this too to break out of the novice shell especially when learning GML.
Also, I would suggest coming up with a plan as to what your going to build first before coding.
Build the codes around your ideas. Helps out a lot when starting out.
Ok. Are you working on GML or Drag and Drop because I've worked with both. Also, it really depends on what you are trying to build as well.
I would try to come up with a plan first on what sprites to use for your game. Deal with one thing at a time, worry about the coding stuff when you search for tutorial videos probably on Youtube might be the best place to search or Unity forums for coding. I've been building a game and you have to work by phases, sprite designs and idea concept art come first then you build off of the art in code. Coding is usually dictated by what you want the sprites to do anyways.
Had a crush on Ryoko the Space Pirate from Tenchi Muyo.
Man I wish I owned Flash when it first came out. Those licenses were expensive, but totally worth it. Also as far as finding tutorials, I usually would go to Youtube to find out the basic foundation of codes depending on what I wanted to build in a game.
There are a couple of game making engines out there to start with. I would also recommend going to your local bookstore and finding some coding books depending on the code you will be coding in. I'm using Gamemaker studio 2 to develop my stuff, but I started out with Flash and even with Phaser building my games. There are excellent tutorials on Youtube for sure. The catch behind GameMaker Studio 2 is that you have to pay to export the game currently. If you want Godot game engine is free, but the coding is a bit advanced though.
That's why whenever I work on my projects(learned in college), I save constantly and probably on multiple machines if you can.
Glad your back and healthy again! Here's an update on my stuff.
Got invincibility working finally and 3 lives to boot. My robot walks back and forth, but can die from being hit on the head.
Just like to share.
I have coded and used drag and drop programs to code my game. So far I've programmed invincibility for the player and 3 lives. Also a robot that walks back and forth that can die if hit on the head. It's a work in progress for sure. It's made with GameMaker Studio 2, you decide if it's coding or drag and drop. I prefer a little of both personally.
I drew with chalk a human transmutation circle once. Almost got in trouble for it.
I just told people they were just chalk drawings. Simply did it for fun.
I still remember making the measurements walking ten feet for 10 foot in diameter.
Yeah it's from fullmetal alchemist, but it was a thrill to draw.
I wish I had kept the photos. It took a good 3 hours to draw in chalk.
Nice! Glad to see another GamemakerStudio user on here! I'm also building mine on gamemaker gml. Time is totally worth it.

Thanks. Just glad someone out in the web likes it! Just added 3 lives to the character and the ability to destroy the robot recently. My parents simply just don't approve or understand why I like building projects. It's almost like there's a generation gap...
Cool stuff! I'm only working on a platform game currently with 2D.

RIP Piratecrab. Rock on in the next life!
Using Ubuntu at the moment. Loving every minute of it.
I don't rage anymore. Used to be Halo, but I guess that time is behind me.
General, you shall surely be missed.
Politics I definitely could have seen that heading it's way depending on the subject matter it entails.
I'm currently developing my own game currently. It's been challenging to build the puzzles that it will have. Probably because building a good RPG is like sculpting, takes time and effort to get it done right.
Final Fantasy 7 when Aeris or Aerith dies got me teary eyed, due to the fact that the music numbers were extremely well composed and then of course taking out Sephiroth, Emerald, and Ruby weapon...
That game is not for the feint of heart. And to get the Gold Chocobo's is another reason to cry for victory in that story.
I've been scammed too in my lifetime.
I actually got lucky I didn't managed to get into such a mess in time and I got my money returned ten fold.
Not fun.
God of War
Assassins Creed games
and Halo
I would recommend RPG Maker you can get it on steam and change the assets to meet your pixel needs. Great for RPG's and it doesn't require much on the code side. Most of the program comes with prebuilt RPG codes for battling and other basic foundation stuff that takes longer to do in regular programs like gamemaker studio2, or other programs.
