From memory, CS6 is the last version of Flash that you can use AS2 in yes? After that they dropped as2 completely? Or does CS3 still support AS2?

This time around I'll be jumping back in.

One such resource is AS Main, a forum thread that was built up over years with a ton of Actionscript 2.0 tutorials.
Lots of the links on the original post were broken, but most link to other Newgrounds threads and you can find valuable info there. The BBS thread is long abandoned, so I copied it to my profile and I'll update the list as I comb it for broken links.

Nice work!! This really needed to be done, thank you. I learned how to code thanks to AS Main.

For anyone who wants to make games with Ruffle, using Flash Develop to code is much better than the actionscript panel in Flash Pro. This FD template give code completion for AS2, very handy.

Flash Develop AS2 Template Posted January 25th, 2021 in Programming

Has anyone got a copy of the Flash Develop AS2 Project Template? Working on games for Ruffle, it would be nice to have code completion for AS2 in Flash Develop. Currently only completion for as3 :(

Response to: Haxe tutorials? Posted May 20th, 2020 in Programming

There's some stuff on youtube. Heaps is a bit tricky to get up and running if your a beginner. OpenFL is a bit easier to get started with. Both are Haxe libraries. So I assume you have haxe installed from Haxe.org, which means you can punch 'haxelib' into commandprompt with success.

Then install openfl why putting in the install commands into cmd.

https://www.openfl.org show you how to do it.

There's a bunch of online tuts, youtube videos that outline all the and the basics.

[Paid Gig] Anime Vector Art Posted May 21st, 2019 in Art

Paid work! I need an artist / artists who can do high quality clean vector art of anime anime characters. Characters are original but will be heavily inspired by popular shonnen, with a bit of iron giant and cowboy bepop. Based on your style, I'll match you up with one or more character designs. The focus is on clean and detailed vector line art for large scale print, so if your a long time vector artist that can draw the described anime really well, you've got this.

Colored would be great but not necessary. Backgrounds will likely be simple graphics design.

PM me with your availability, rate per line art character, and art examples :)

Response to: Wick Editor Game Jam Posted April 28th, 2019 in NG News

4 hours! The editor get's a bit laggy with so many lines. Selecting all the lines to recolor them takes a 5 seconds. Sometimes, lines that I've flipped will unflip upon transform or recolor. It's really cool tech, never crashed on me! I hope it get more optimized.

At 4/26/19 01:52 PM, GoodL wrote: Figured I'd try it out for animation too. Here's what I made:

Thoughts while animating with Wick Editor:
-It should be easier to select multiple frames at once. Clicking each individual frame is a pain
-Zooming can cause a lot of problems, some so bad I had to save and reload in a new tab
-Embedded animations (animations in "clips") don't seem to automatically play, which is a problem when you're making a cartoon that you want to export in a video format
-All of the drawing tools could really use a lot of work, in more ways than I think I should list here

I'm still using 0.15.2, so I don't know if some of these things may have been fixed or improved in the current alpha version, but frankly... I like the layout of 0.15.2 way more.

Awesome work!!

PHPBB convert Mod Posted December 15th, 2015 in Programming

Hey I'm looking for somebody with some experience working with PHPBB Mods and Extensions. I've recently upgraded my forum from 3.0 to 3.1 - however my website relies on the FetchAll MOD. Anyone got the chops to convert this Mod to an Extension?

At 12/13/15 04:49 PM, modtoons wrote: Just bought a Cintiq 21UX (2012 Edition) and I've got some questions. For one, I've calibrated the Cintiq to match the colors of my HD monitor, but when I turned it off and back on again, the colors reset. Is there any way to save the calibration settings so I don't have to match the colors again every time I turn the Cintiq on? Thanks even if I don't get an answer. I'm really only asking here because I realize a few animators probably have this cintiq model.

I've got the same model - my own does keep the settings even after turning it on and off. I am using the cintiq built in settings - no 3rd part application.

Response to: Recommended animation software? Posted December 11th, 2015 in Animation

At 11/24/15 06:04 PM, N3kRoRoTh wrote: Hey everybody, I started messing around with Flash animation back in high school, circa 2003, when it was still owned by Macromedia. Life got in the way so I stopped after high school but now I want to get back into it since I consider animation to be the single most fulfilling thing I've ever done. I keep hearing that Flash is being phased out by HTML 5 and so my question is, what "Flash-alternative" software do you all recommend? I would prefer free/inexpensive software, but I am definitely open to ALL suggestions. A lot of the work I've seen on NG lately is INCREDIBLE and I want to know what software is being utilized. Thank you!

Use Flash - or rather Adobe Animate CC as it will be renamed next year. Don't worry about HTML5 and Flash - that will in no way inhibit you from producing animation. Flash can produce animation for any format whether it be swf, mp4, html 5 or even webgl.
