Hi,
what is the exact size/aspect ratio of the thumbnails for games on newgrounds?
I mean this used to be the case before humble store, itch and most importantly steam. it's a lot easier for people to buy something when it's on a site they already know and like others have mentioned, very importantly, steam is going to have A LOT more traffic than your website ever will.
Yo boi, I'd be down to make a small game for this! I make a bunch of small games that are mostly on my itch here: https://brin-o.itch.io/
Newgrounds only gets the golden nuggets.
Even if it is plagiarized, why does it matter?
Inktober as a whole is, imo, a highly successful "event" that causes artist around the world to push themselves further in their hobby/profession.
As a whole, still good no matter what, however the person might be a bit of a dick.

You need to wrap the call in onReady as well, especially in Awake or Start functions triggered in the same scene as the core.
I'm trying to get as per the PDF here (https://bitbucket.org/newgrounds/newgrounds.io-for-unity-c/src/master/), however I'm getting an error in regards to some sort of a login call whenever I try running the game inside of unity. Is there a way for me to fix this or is this something that gets automatically fixed when you publish the game since it actually works in browser then?
My code at line 27 in the helper script is:
If I omit this step, I get the same exact error. Adding the onReady callback is the safest option (to some degree of success, you could also change core script's Start to Awake, or init everything in the main menu, pass it to the following scenes and only use it there).
By the way, you don't really need the checkLogin function on Newgrounds, but it helps
Otherwise, NG users are automatically logged in, and if you try to unlock a medal for somebody who's not logged in, it will fail, but won't crash the game or anything.
However, you can't use the ngio_core before it's ready, and wrapping it in the onReady callback makes sure you don't.
Does it help? If you'd like to, I can send you the full script.
Thank you so much! You saved me here, I was so lost as to what i'm doing wrong. That's what I get when I code at 3am I suppose :d

I think it would also be cool to have a little game jam going alongside the animation jams sometimes (except of course for the regular events, e.g. Pixel Day). There's a lot of animation jams, and even if there were no prizes involved, it'd perhaps be interesting to officially encourage people to join in on the fun under the same hashtag.
For example, there were five muskjam artworks, no games, six audio works (some of which were used in the animations). Even if they weren't part of the judging / award process, it'd be fun to play a couple of Musk-themed games alongside the main attraction of the animations. If you don't think it'd draw people away from the animations themselves.

E.g. if a new user sees the winning submission of Musk Jam, they'll only know it was "Daily 2nd Place" and "Frontpaged", whereas the most impressive feat of winning an animation jam isn't visible, unless they visit old forum posts or browse the history.
I don't know, something like:

When we first launched Ruffle on NG, I made a list of almost 1,000 movies that didn't work. That list has been shrinking ever since and is now down to less than 250 items.Yesterday, I talked with someone who apparently can't run Ruffle on his computer. Is there an option somewhere to prioritise Newgrounds Player if you encounter problems?
Rapid raises good points here. I don't think NG is the "home" of game jams - that defeintly goes to itch. However, NG has a unique community and I would happily work on some little games to fit in with the animation/artwork jams.
The game dev. monthly rewards are really cool. Big props to you guys, I feel like these sort of thigns give the starting indie developers a really nice pat on the back/justification for wokring hard on their games.

While I'm not quite the world's largest fan of this book, I have to say the cover is absolutely slick:
And on the search for that last book I found this absolutely amazing one:
And the cover of Retromancer is really appealing to me, though I haven't read it and am honestly just a little hesitant after my last Robert Rankin book:
Disc world covers are the best
Playing them was fun, wanted to give it a shot. The idea of making a game you would wanna play is really powerful but then you figure out that a) that's probably not possible but that b) making games is an amazing art form and the creation process is super enjoyable
