Hi all. I'm a student at the Uni of Teesside in the UK, in my 3rd year of creative digital media. For part of my dissertation I would like to talk a little bit about the first ever flash games & animations created, but unfortunately I've so far been unsuccessful in finding any resources. I don't ever remember a time where newgrounds wasn't really around, so I thought I'd come here and ask.

So basically, in short - What is/were the first ever flash game/s? Of course, I'm talking...popular games. Perhaps one that started it all off?

Any help would be absolutely great - I can't really think of anywhere else I'd go to find out any info!

Tom Fulp was about the first to make good games with Flash I think.

That may be the first portal submission, but as far a flash is concerned, Tom Fulp played a key role in expanding its usage and popularity. Flash was created in 1993 by Macromedia, so it is by no stretch of the imagination, new.

Wasn't pico's school one of the first to have a semblance of variables/playability and such?

Otherwise, I think club a seal was up there in the first ones

Like others before me said, Tom Fulp was one of the first to start using flash and helped to make it as popular as it is today. The first flash would of been created by the designers of the program, obviously, but its hard to know what were the first flashes as alot of them probably never even made it to the internet back then.
