Secret Santas have been assigned. You should have a PM from i-bot with details.
There's been some confusion about how to submit this year, which makes sense since you art folks haven't been using the project system very long, so here's a few notes:
You can submit your gifts using the project system this year.
To do this, set up an art project like you normally would for any art. Instead of publishing it when you fill out the form, use the "Publish at" form to tell it to publish on Christmas morning (2023-12-25 at 00:00).
You can create your art project any time, you don't have to wait until christmas. Using the publish at form will keep it private inil christmas morning, at which point it will be submitted to the art portal.
Once you have a project, you can copy the URL and paste it on the Secret Santa submit page.
Don't add your secret user to the credits before Christmas. If you do, they will get early access and ruin the surprise.
You can still do a single image upload directly from your secret santa page like you did last year, if you don't want to make a project for some reason.
I just assumed this from the start, but now I realised I don’t see it written anywhere, do the drawings have to be Christmas themed or do you just draw the character doing anything?? Just wondering in case I’m the only person who draws my assigned character doing something Christmasy lol

They don't have to be themed, just make sure you respecting anything the user put in their profile. If they imply they are excited about seeing someone in a christmas outfit, might be the way to go.
Boo, I'm not Scouted and have been part of Secret Santa 2 times already. Feels really deviantart exclusionary, and on Christmas too.

What's different this year ?
We're not even sure... JUST KIDDING !!! THE RULES !!! THE RULES ARE DIFFERENT THIS YEAR !!!!!
You can read all the rules for the Secret Santa via the registration page, but I'd like to share a few cliff notes of what we changed for this year.
BIG CHANGES:
Other than these minor changes (and the whole automated system implemented by @PsychoGoldfish last year) we are on a fast track to having this as optimized as possible.
Note: If you aren't scouted, but have a bunch of art on the art portal, throw up some links and maybe you'll catch someone's attention! (If you are already scouted, please make sure anything you scout adheres to NG guidelines!)

What is expected of me and how can I help ?
If you would like to participate:
- Be patient after signing up
- Be respectful to whomever you're drawing for by not ruining the surprise or letting them know you're drawing for them
- Relay all questions to event helpers, NOT the person you are assigned to
- Read the rules over twice if you have any questions
- End of day, Nov. 26th (11:59pm EST) is when everyone must have their registration/profile completed
- If all goes according to plan, Secret Santas will be assigned on Dec. 1st
- You have until the end of Christmas Eve, Dec. 24th (11:59pm EST) to submit your completed drawing

Hey, I tried to link my secret santa project to the submission page, but I kept getting an error message saying the project URL was invalid. I have my submission scheduled and I tried using the reserved URL that shows up when you preview a project.
I ended up uploading the file instead, but I would've rather have linked the project as advised.

I made the profile acceptable and followed the guideline.
So I am not going to draw any gift for someone or get a gift..?

Took me a minute to realize that unpublished projects save changes automatically, but the deed is now done.

There were around 30 naughty people this year who did not get their gifts submitted on time.
We'll all be taking Christmas day off to enjoy with our families, but over the next few days we'll start assigning some backup santas to make sure everyone gets a gift.
Thanks to everyone who turned up and helped make this event so frikken awesome, and to all the helpers who handled questions and advice both here and on the Discord server. This event couldn't happen without you all!

Hell yeah! My first year. It was reely fun to pressure myself to put more effort into what i made. Will do next year if i can. And then i can provide a even better drawing.
