They've made it exclusively for those who were scouted this year. I'm not even scouted, and I can't even enter this. And I enjoyed taking apart of this.

There’s a few things I want to say regarding The Secret Santa 2023.
First though, I do have a potential solution/suggestion to the issue of people not committing to creating art, and that is to look back at the users from the last secret santa and see who actually did their part. Artists that did the work last year (that register again this year) are automatically grandfathered in because they are obviously dedicated to actually producing a piece. In other words, people that have participated in the secret santa before (and were good members) can continue this year regardless if they are scouted or not.
I was really looking forward to this secret santa. Participating last year was one of my first collaborative experiences on Newgrounds (I’ve known the site since about 2012, but made my account and started posting art and reviews in 2021 and 2022). It was really fun, and I loved seeing everyone’s finished results. I clicked on the frontpaged post to join this year and was immediately disheartened by the line saying that I need to be scouted first. I started working on an art piece about two weeks ago specifically for the secret santa, and now I found out that I probably won’t be able to participate. I put a lot of time and effort into my art and to see it get left out is really disheartening. Here it is, if you are curious.
It’s not my place to say whether I am worthy to be scouted or not, but I do feel that my art is on par with other artists who participated in the secret santa last year (I was placed at skill level 3 (out of 5) last year). I have participated in multiple collabs and have never missed a deadline. Many other unscouted artists have shown the same dedication too.
So please, I am sincerely asking that you remove the scouting restriction from the secret santa, or at the very least, grandfather those who have participated (and committed) in the past (such as myself). I have more potential solutions, feel free to reach out to me.

It's not a bug. It means you were scouted at some point and lost your scouted status, so now you're unable to get it again without a mod's help, and it's entirely up to their discretion.

Would that mean that no-one has decided to rescout me or the option to scout me isn't listed?
If it is the former, that would be very hard to do since if anyone did decide to rescout me they wouldn't have the choice to.

You need to show more technical skill. Your art currently looks like what I'd expect from a middle school student at best. It feels like you use the shape tool and add faces a lot, or rely on filters, etc. Sorry if this sounds harsh, but you're out here making a lot of noise about it, and that's how it is.

No one wants to be matched up with someone whose only portfolio on NG is a single drawing--it calls into question their dedication & legitimacy to the event and makes scouted users uneasy.
Plus, when you're scouted, there's at least someone vouching that the artwork you post is yours and nobody else's. This is the main reason.

We're not even sure... JUST KIDDING !!! THE RULES !!! THE RULES ARE DIFFERENT THIS YEAR !!!!!
You can read all the rules for the Secret Santa via the registration page, but I'd like to share a few cliff notes of what we changed for this year.
BIG CHANGES:
Other than these minor changes (and the whole automated system implemented by @PsychoGoldfish last year) we are on a fast track to having this as optimized as possible.
Note: If you aren't scouted, but have a bunch of art on the art portal, throw up some links and maybe you'll catch someone's attention! (If you are already scouted, please make sure anything you scout adheres to NG guidelines!)

What is expected of me and how can I help ?
If you would like to participate:
- Be patient after signing up
- Be respectful to whomever you're drawing for by not ruining the surprise or letting them know you're drawing for them
- Relay all questions to event helpers, NOT the person you are assigned to
- Read the rules over twice if you have any questions
- End of day, Nov. 26th (11:59pm EST) is when everyone must have their registration/profile completed
- If all goes according to plan, Secret Santas will be assigned on Dec. 1st
- You have until the end of Christmas Eve, Dec. 24th (11:59pm EST) to submit your completed drawing
