May I get some clarity as to why I didn't make it in this year? The piece I submitted to qualify was a piece from last year that got a solid 8.0 review score at that time. What disqualified me?

if you got a lower score than you expected from me please keep in mind that a 5 from me is roughly what i consider to be "average" for newgrounds.
i'm biased towards what i consider to be "good" mixing & mastering and originality within genres, and biased against overly elaborate/noodly melodies.
congrats to winners, good luck to those who were eliminated. keep making stuff, even if it sucks!

I really thought i had it but i seemed not to be that close. I took this way to easy.
Last year i got into the ProfAms and if i did this time aswell i would have gotten to the next round.
But now i know and i have to fight even harder next time :)

What’s a Knock-out Round?
The next stage of this 3-stage competition! Half of the original competitors from each group were accepted into the Knock-out Round, rounded up according to group membership and then rounded up again if there were ties. The new group membership totals may be unequal as a result of ties, rounding, and disqualifications.

@PsiStarOfficial Only if you started working on it yesterday at the earliest. For both competitions, you're supposed to make the track entirely within the 2-3 week period of the round.

@3manonMusic It's a 20% acceptance rate from the Knock-out to the Final Round. Usually around 10 people per group. :)

i got put in the "professional amateurs" group, which makes sense, because i had 38 fans earlier, but now i have 39. does this mean that in the next round, i'll be judged in the "above average joes" group, or will i stay where i am?
