Game Design notes? 2023-03-02 13:03:58


Do you guys keep game design notes? I only ask because as of recently I've been jolting down my own game design notes talking about the design of games, weapons, armor, etc. The various subjects that I have been covering and talking about. I'm wondering if any of you guys and gals have game design notes you'd like to share.

Are you talking about your own game design notes for your own designs, or your own game design notes for games? :3


Either way, an old boss of mine used to play games and take notes of what he experienced, like super-thoroughly. He was a great audio-guy for the time that he worked in the industry.

I take notes on games I work on, mainly for things that I need to fix/design/whatever, but it comes with the territory to take all sorts of notes on playtests. Sometimes, your own work may shine a lot brighter if other people fix certain things :)

I mean both; taking notes of your own games and of other games. It's always good to do both.

I think it's very important to keep it, a few weeks ago I found game design notes i made that dated from 2019 ago. And it's interesting how much more imagination I had before and also see my old mindset. (to summarize what i had written i wanted to create a multiplayer/2d/pvp game in a futuristic style like cyberpunk, cyberpunk hadn't been released yet so idk where I was inspired) Anyway always keep game design notes, it's important !

I actually do this. I've been writing stuff down on notepad for my 2 games I want to make, and I have a lot of stuff written down for both! I've written down characters, character bios, character mechanics, weapons, stage ideas, stage gimmicks, songs for the games, lore and story, and more!


Honestly, not even sure on how good my music is compared to everyone else

I won't expect anything if I barely get anywhere... lol
