As you may have noticed, it is okay (and welcomed) to make threads in the audio forum where you post your own music.

However, we'd like to maintain a standard of quality for these types of threads, so people don't just spend 30 seconds making a thread called "Check out my music", drop in a link, and never return. The following are some guidelines for making and maintaining a good portfolio thread:

- Include your name in the topic title: The tried and true format is "<name>'s music thread"
- Talk a little bit about yourself and your music style in the opening post, perhaps discuss your musical background and what you use to make music. This can be helpful to other aspiring artists,
- Include a few tracks you've posted on Newgrounds (I think ~3 would be a sensible minimum for starting a portfolio thread.)
- When posting newly completed tracks in the thread later, talk a little bit about them instead of just dumping the link.
- Only start a portfolio thread if you have work to show off that is on Newgrounds.
- You do not need to be scouted to make a portfolio thread.

The main idea is that a portfolio chronicles your journey in music, while inviting feedback from your peers.

I started composing Ambient music in 2010 in Cubase simply because i was bored. Then suddently in 2011 i got a mail from a guy who had featured my melody in his short Thriller film "How May i Help You?" developed for UNICA Youth Exchange in Luxembourg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q8kFapnUBz0
This made me realize that even though my music "sucked" there was actually an audience for it out there.
Fast forward to 2016, after being a music supervisor for the games i make, with main focus on trailer music style and the iconic epic noisy orchestral type, i decided i wanted to do that as well.
I started with simple HQ soundfonts, all from EastWest, Roland, Florestan and Sonatina wich i found here:

and yes these soundfonts are legal, they have been offered directly from their engineers and designers
and the EastWest sounds were published through their free/demo offer.

It's been a while since my last visit to the audio forums and I saw the threads before this thread and I got to say, I was never more triggered in my life with where the fuck the mods were.

Haha; portfolio threads have been around for a fair while before this sticky was added, so it must've been a good long while indeed. :)

If you mean audio, certainly, it may even help you get scouted by the added exposure to your work.
