You can try creating a podcast episode on your own, or with someone you know to see if podcasting is something for you. Also, what can help you a lot is creating a voice demo so the people you're asking for interviews know what you sound like.
You can begin by making a test episode. You don't have to publish the episode; when I started practicing podcasting, I didn't publish any of my episodes. I've made well over 30 test episodes by myself and sometimes with other people over the Internet.
And yes, they were bad, and they were supposed to be bad because I started out doing it. It's about learning. And having fun.
