What would you do if bronze pipes, which spew silvered smoke and grey bile, appeared in the dirt up the road in your neighborhood? You would report it wouldn't you, but not before complaining about trivial things. Like the whereabouts of someone's dearest free-range pet. And hoping for a small crumb of a footnote in the history of this town; as the one who put a stop to a major annoyance, (or maybe even the savoir of our lungs.)
