Reviews for "Bird Tapper's Retro Challenge"

Did you know the sequel to this game is actually just a reskin of a Japanese's game called doki-doki panic? The actual sequel they made was TOO HARD so to make it in time for a pixel day release they just reskinned a game they already made and slapped 'Bird-tapper' on it, crazy huh?

anyways, this game is gay and stupid

Dry responds:

fucked up man fr

This was such a unique Super Mario Bros NES parody, which is the reason why I clicked on the thumbnail in the first place. But you gave the game its own funny personality and connected most of all the Levels into one play throw, that I needed to beat. I had so much fun playing this. WHAT!? -46 LIVES!? I really suck. Thank you so much for giving us infinite lives or I would have never beaten this. I should play more NG games.
I also just love the music in this game.

Couple of performance issues (and I could only get it running in Firefox) but it was an enjoyable hour (I "enjoyed the scenery") of Mario remix. Amazing music as always.

Edit: I definitely enjoyed it! It was a really cool way to experience SMB1 again, the infinite spawning and the way things were strung together made everything feel fresh again. This being (I assume?) a custom engine is even more impressive. What base tech? You should write something up. :)

WaterSilverC responds:

Yeah, preformance issues are my fault. In essence I had forgotten how big smb1 actually is and just loaded everything in memory. I was skipping too much as a kid I guess and remembered it shorter.

Interesting that it works well for firefox for you. I developed the engine in firefox but it started stuttering a bit but when I use chrome it's totally smooth. I guess it depends on the machine.

Anyway glad you liked it!

only issue, put your own spin on it, dont use mario? keys did NOT run well for me, but I'm not much for this kind of game.. hilarious!

Not bad
