I think darkening the nighttime would look more realistic.

Hey Diki,

Thanks for the feedback. We did that on the very first internal build, but then the game was soo dark that it was hard to see. I'm not sure how I would balance the realism with fairness.

What feature should I add next Posted February 20th, 2016 in Game Development

I've been working on my game for almost 6 months. Recently I added real time lighting/ day night cycles. But I'm running out of ideas of what features I could add to the game or what to improve. I'd love some feedback. If you give me an idea it coudl end up in the next build.

On the bottom picture, on which I altered the perspective, it's immediately obvious which way is which, which is a whole lot better for a casual game.

Thank you very much for that input. That image made it very clear. We will take it to heart and try to make the game better.

Really, anything the developer Orange Juice releases, I'll play and like.

What the heck is orange juice?

The Unity thing is certainly a problem. Making games in Unity just isn't preferable right now.

Yeah that's a tough one. The best thing I could do is move it over to webgl so it works without plugins, but you still have to jump through hoops and the performance is about 1/6 of the unity plugin.

This kind of thing should probably be put in the game development forum.

Hi Cordyceps,

Thanks for the input. I had a follow up question. Other games in the genre have a similar camera angle and controls. Why do you think that those games aren't confusing? For example crossy roads.

How would I change what forum it goes under?

What is your favorite indie game? Posted December 6th, 2015 in Video Games

Do you have a favorite indie game of all time?

For me i'm going to have to go with braid. It smashed opened the indie scene for me in a way that games before it never did. I appreciate the dark souls-esque story telling, puzzles and platforming.

I've always liked Akuma. Something about air fireballs and his ultra I find fun.

Do you guys find that fewer people play or comments on games made in the webplayer / webgl on Newgrounds?

Do unity games get fewer hits? Posted December 4th, 2015 in Game Development

I think that flash games are very easy to load up. But since Chrome can't play unity games without jumping through hoops and then you still have to install a plugin for firefox, I wonder if fewer people want to deal with Unity games.

Does anyone have experiencing creating both flash games and unity games? Do you get fewer hits on Unity games?
