Reviews for "Rogue Fable IV"

good but it wont focus on my computer

It's a great game, but the balance is a bit wunky, or at least with my play-style, only one of the classes is what I would consider good. For any aspiring players, give it a shot, it's easy to get into. I suggest trying the storm mage. He's loaded with several great abilities, make sure you pick up reflect where you can get it, and upgrade it as high as you can. The only active cast spell you need is the lightning bolt, but make sure you at least have a non-storm type staff for resistant enemies.

Anyway, for the dev, these are just my off the cuff thoughts on each of the classes, don't take them too seriously.

The melee classes are pretty ass. The warrior is alright, but he needs good luck to make it to the end, and I never beat Yendor with him. If Shields Up was buffed so that it lasted forever, it would still only be pretty good, because there's lots of attacks that bypass defenses. His "ultimate" is very underwhelming. Still, in terms of viability, I'd give him a B. I never won with him, but with the right seed I don't think it would be too much trouble.

The Barbarian has a lot of great abilities... for the Warrior. The charge skill is a great tool... for ending your run. I never used Berserk or Bloodlust though, so maybe that's the secret sauce? I doubt it though, because he's even less able to deal with a crowd than the warrior is. I also kinda think the Killing Strikes skill is bugged, or at least it doesn't work like I think it does (free hits against low hp enemies).

The Rogue has a neat gimmick, if you can get it to work. I mostly found myself cheesing the stairs, which is all well and good for the regular dungeon, but Yendor doesn't let you retreat. I can't imagine why you'd want to shadow sneak next to an enemy, considering his abilities are keyed to dexterity and he's not very tanky.

The ranger is pretty crap. The tunnel shot skill is aight, his capstone is an insult. Perfect aim is far more useful when picked up by a mage, because the bows do about as much damage as a soggy sponge.

The Fencer is the strongest melee class, or at least the most fun. Disengage and Lunge are a great combo. It's a shame his wimpy arms turn every weapon into a wet noodle, lol. I'm not sure his capstone is very useful though. Getting into the thick of it is suicide for every character, and it's pretty rare for you to get swarmed accidentally

The Fire mage is absolute garbola. I only ever had fun playing him as a weird, spiky melee build, but that only works when rng is on your side.

The Storm Mage is the only unqualified good character. Please don't nerf him down to the level of everyone else. He has a lot of essential skills native to his build, like levitation, reflection, and crowd control. He's the only one I'm confident can best just about every run.

The other three mages are all alright, though they kinda struggle on Yendor. Domination is great for the regular dungeon, but your mobs get slaughtered pretty fast in the last fight, and then you're just putzing around with thee mana in the tank. I never beat the game with any of them, but I'm sure I could do it with a bit of luck.

Anyway, sorry for the whole-ass essay, lmao. I was kinda just looking for en excuse to write a page of stuff. I hope some of this is useful for you.

I beat it with a necromancer by save-scumming a seed (63583914026) that had a very early scroll of attainment, which I used to get a ring of wealth... Then I purchased victory from the intelligence shrines, librarians, and talent trainers... I maxed out INT and used ice shield to supplement my HP. I was not very efficient on the Yendor fight: I mostly used poison clouds, a glacier forged staff, and the discord spell, with skeletons soaking up enemy damage. It'd be nice if there was a way to buff characters from one run to the next - like a meta-merchant option. It might make the game trivial, though, if you could upgrade between runs.

i was barely able to complete rogue fable III one time in 2 years, let´s see how much i suck at IV

It's not often I find myself coming back to browser-based games. But somehow, this one keeps living in my brain rent-free and brings me back. The difficulty is great and I enjoy the game greatly. Keep it up!
